 Panic and Unrest Surrounding Chernobyl

Mass protests and evacuations have begun in the town of Chernobyl as the public is demanding information about the recent disaster. With large protests popping up all over the country without a substantial amount of information regarding the disaster. The citizens only know that people are leaving Chernobyl as fast as they can.


While this is happening, officials are considering the possibility that the disaster in Chernobyl could be a sabotage and not a freak accident. In a press interrogation, Soviet Firefighter Vasily Ignatenko states that with so many competent workers at Chernobyl, it is unlikely to be an accident. He suggests that it could instead be western interference that caused this disaster. Ignatenko goes on to say “there is a near zero percent chance that it was our fault.”


Ignatenko is working with the KGB to further investigate this possibility as the situation surrounding the Chernobyl disaster gets more heated.


Not everybody agrees with Ignatenko however. Nikolai Ryzhkov argues that while possible, placing the blame for the Chernobyl disaster is not what should be the focus of discussions going forward. Ryzhkov instead suggests that calming protests and getting everybody out safely is much more important at this time.

A recent development of a terrorist attack in Germany has become a serious breach in the national security of both east and west Germany.  While an exceeding amount of officials in West Germany express sympathy and cooperation for the people of East Germany, such as Herbert Wehner, who plans to aid the bedfast state, a select powerful few seem to have grudges against their eastern brothers.  “They can’t keep failing forever,” says a West German official.   “We are the better Germany” Willi Stoph, prime minister of East Germany discusses how they are open to all diplomatic discussion. The East Germany Prime Minister is willing to work with the West Germany Prime Minister and is stating that this is the time to work together to improve the state of foreign diplomacy. East Germany officials have all stated that the economy of the east is thriving and has never been better.
